The first night spent at the hotel was very relaxing. The comfort and luxury provided by the room took all our tiredness away and we were all refreshed to start our exploration of the city of
Ahmedabad. The first place which we decided to visit was the Kankaria Lake of the city which is a popular attraction and Landmark of the city.
The lake is an artificial one and was built in the year 1451 by Sultan Qutub ud Din. There are 34 sides to the lake which makes it very appealing. It is situated on the south eastern side of the city and we reached there by 10 AM. There is also an island located on the Lake. It is said about this lake that Mughal emperors used to visit this lake along with their consorts.
The place is a good picnic spot for everyone to spend some time alone with friends and family. We spent some good 2 hours at the Lake and also had
a small boat ride which my son enjoyed a lot. There is also a park adjoining the Lake which is known Nangina Wadi. There were many tourists when we visited the Lake. It is certainly one of those
places in the city where one can spend some hours seeking peace amidst the noises and sounds of everyday city life.
The food stalls nearby are also good to try some local street food of Gujarat. The food we tried was delicious and spicy. The chirping and humming of the birds made the trip to the Lake Kankaria very pleasant. We clicked many pictures of ourselves in the different corners of the Lake. The island is also worth a visit. Those who wish to visit and explore more places can take a stroll at the nearby zoo and nature park.
Once we were done with the visit to the Kankaria Lake we headed for our next destination which was another historical monument of Gujarat known as
Bhadra Fort. The fort was situated nearby so it didn’t take much time for us to reach there from Kankaria Lake.
