The Dhanaulti Hill Station near Mussoorie and Dehradun

Days flew like hours when we were at the beautiful state of Uttarakhand. We visited many locations of immense scenic beauty and also historic monuments like the St. Paul’s church of Mussoorie. It is a beautiful building and had great historic relevance as well. Now since the day of our returning back home was drawing near we still had so much to explore.

After a lot of pondering I decided to pay a visit to the renowned Dhanaulti Hill Station that is located about 24 kilometres from Mussoorie and lies at a distance of 29 kilometres from Chamba. Basically this hill station is located between the two beautiful districts and is equally a premier tourist attraction of the state of Uttarakhand.

The best time to visit Dhanaulti is during the hot summers. Tourists in huge quantities flood this region to escape the scorching summer sun. The temperature here ranges between a mere 30 degrees to 35 degrees centigrade. In winters it drops down to 7 degrees and sometimes goes as low as negative one degree centigrade. Hence snow lovers can enjoy their stay here in winters. A person who is from Southern parts of India might not find it very conducive to stay here during cold chilly winters.

The main attractions of this hill station are two prominent ecological parks Amber and Dhara. These are about one- fifth of a kilometre or 200 meters apart. These parks are maintained very meticulously by the forest department of Uttarakhand with the help of local residents. This depicts a form of participatory administration in the region.

There is also sporting facilities in the form of active tourism activities such as horse riding and rope walking over Burma bridges. There are some traditional huts also which accommodate tourists and are maintained by the forest department.  This place is all about ecotourism and green technology. The day passed in a blink of an eye when we were at the magical hill station of Dhanaulti. The whole trip of Uttarakhand was a memorable experience for me as I got an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature and also spend quality time with my family.
