After the thrilling trip to the Sahastradhara Heights, we went to pay a visit to the renowned Tapkeshwar temple of Dehradun. It is a very famous landmark of the city and a place with a lot of
spiritual and historical significance. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Hindu deity and God of destruction, the main Shivlingam of the temple is situated in a natural cave and this makes the
temple a wonder of nature. Droplets of water fall from the cave on the Shivlingam making it a purely divine sight.
The place is located on the banks of the river which adds many dimensions to its beauty. The place has a legend it is said that during the Mahabharata War, the place was resided by Dronacharaya and the Kauravas, and hence the cave where the Shiva Lingam is situated is also known as the Drona cave. The temple is located about just 6 kilometres from the main city and daily thousands of pilgrims come to pay homage to the deity.
The serenity and peace felt by soul in the Tapkeshwar temple was magnificent. The splendour of the natural beauty along with the religious
significance of the temple was unmatched. Heart was delighted especially watching the scene of water drops dropping from the cave on the Shivlingam, it was an amazing sight. The place is not only
for the member of any specific religious community but for all who wants to experience bliss and solitude. The place is also a perfect location to click some amazing pictures with family and the
wonder of nature available all around it.
The rustic charm of the temple is surely going to make everyone stunned. The place is a must visit not only because of its religious and spiritual importance but also due to its amazing location between the hills. The place is also perfect for a picnic with family and staying away for sometime from the hectic and stressed city life.The time spent there at Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple was amazing.
After this, we decided to visit the famous Rajaji National Park of Dehradun.
