Hello friends. It was a long time since I had gone on a vacation with my family. March being the closing month of the financial year brings a lot of stress for all those employed in financial
sector. So I thought of taking some break and go to any cool and happening place for a vacation with my family. We decided to go to Dehradun this time and so I managed all the travelling and
staying needs for this purpose. I prefer travelling by upper class on Railways with family so I booked tickets in Dehradun Shatabdi Express.
For the purpose of the trip we had to travel on two routes. The first ticket booked by me was from Chandigarh (CDG) to New Delhi (NDLS) in Shatabdi Express (12012). The train departs from Chandigarh at 6:30 PM in the evening and reaches Delhi at 10 PM at night. The ticket from Chandigarh to Dehradun was booked using the railway booking app. Shatabdi Express is the fastest train of Indian Railways.
The food served at Shatabdi was good and they also served refreshment drinks in between which helped a lot for the journey. We reached Delhi at
about 10:15 PM and then spent a night in Delhi. Our next train was in the morning at 6:45 AM which was the Dehradun Shatabdi. We reached the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) at 6 in the morning.
We were served breakfast and a good morning tea in the train. Meanwhile during the journey we had a lot of discussion about what places to visit and where we should go. There was also a co
passenger who was a Dehradun
resident and he also offered us some tips about the place.
Travelling in Shatabdi Express is quite an experience. The train is one of the few multi service train of Indian Railways and also the fastest one. It has full chair car coaches and is is centrally air-conditioned. The train reached Dehradun at 12:40 PM. We got off it and went to the exit where we saw a taxi waiting for us already and its driver holding a placard with my name. It was sent by our hotel to receive us.
We went straight to our Hotel Amrit Regency where we changed and got ready to begin our excursions.
